Vice :: Suicide Forest in Japan

Dang..

I’m not completely “head-over-heels” in love with this record like many people seem to be right now but I can most definitely appreciate it.
What I do really really like though is the album art. I like it A LOT for some reason.
Maybe its the combination of a chaotic and well done illustration mixed with the neat and organized feel of the type that you usually see in most minimalistic design. If it was either one of those things by themselves it would not only change the entire feel of the art but also be unbalanced and incomplete. I think both aspects bring a great balance to the art as a whole. And I just really like that illustration.

Sigur Rós always has the best album art.

:: Daniel Danger ::

I had the pleasure of being able to see Daniel’s work last year in Austin, Texas during SXSW 2011. I was walking around aimlessly when I happened to stumble upon the Flatstock poster convention (which I now know is an annual event) and let me tell you, as an artist or at least a very big fan of art (especially screen printed posters) it was kind of like stumbling into heaven. Or at least a tiny slice of it. I saw a lot of absolutely great work but Daniel Danger’s was probably one of the highlights of it all. I had never seen it before and because of the the dark feel, rich color, technical talent, and physical size of each piece, not only was I completely blown away but I was able to connect deeply with it all almost immediately. I unfortunately did not have enough money to purchase one of his beautiful pieces but…sigh..maybe one day I will…

I highly recommend checking out more of his work when you get a chance. Here.
